Trinity assisted NSSGA in developing an Environmental Management Systems (EMS) template that enabled its members to implement an EMS and/or become certified with ISO 14001.

Regulatory Round Up
  • The lime industry has joined a host of other facilities subject to MACT standards. EPA promulgated the Lime Manufacturing MACT in January 2004. With this regulation, lime manufacturers have burdens related to initial performance testing, ongoing monitoring, and increased recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
  • Lime facilities must also address new requirements related to Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plan development. In December 2008, EPA published revisions to the rule that become effective in February 2009.
  • In addition, aggregates facilities continue to contend with New Source Performance Standards requirements under 40 CFR 60, Section OOO, which applies to nonmetallic mineral processing plants. Changes to NSPS Subpart OOO were proposed by the EPA in April 2008.
Project Profiles:
  • Trinity provides comprehensive environmental management services for a national aggregates company. For several of the company’s facilities, Trinity maintains all environmental records, provides monthly management services including bi-monthly meetings, and completes annual permitting and reporting requirements, annual emissions reporting, water permit renewals, annual mine reports, and site registration renewals.
  • A lime manufacturing company requested that Trinity outline the air regulatory requirements for a new greenfield lime kiln to be built in Maine. Among other information, Trinity provided data about potential NOx control requirements for the facility based on its location within the Ozone Transport Region. A final report outlining these regulatory requirements, and providing the regulatory climate in Maine, was prepared and submitted to the client.
  • For a national lime company, Trinity completed a preliminary air dispersion modeling analysis to determine the existing impact that the facility has on the National Ambient Air Quality Standards. This information aided in future permitting and expansion decisions.
