EPA Extends Comment Deadline for Proposed Cement Plant Rules

On June 10, 2009 the US EPA extended the public comment deadline to Sept. 4, 2009 on a proposal to slash mercury emissions and other pollutants from Portland cement kilns. The proposed standards would also set emission limits for total hydrocarbons and particulate matter from cement kilns of all sizes and would reduce hydrochloric acid emissions from kilns that are large hydrochloric acid emitters.

The proposed rule as published in the Federal Register can be found
