Business Development Manager

Trinity Consultants Inc. (Trinity) is a market leader in environmental consulting specializing in Clean Air Act permitting and compliance. We are seeking a savvy and technically strong business development manager who enjoys working independently while also being an active member of a team of diverse technical experts to grow business in a proactive and creative way.


SUMMARY

The business development manager will manage, perform and/or implement all activities related to the sales and marketing functions necessary to ensure the sustained growth of Trinity’ Austin Office and Trinity’s Oil and Gas Business Line. The candidate will coordinate with internal technical and business development staff in performing marketing and sales activities throughout the state of Texas, and in other oil and gas producing regions. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with experience selling technical services (preferably in the environmental field) and flourishes in a results driven environment. 

 

The ideal candidate must be experienced in developing, nurturing, and leveraging key relationships to build business.  A strong work ethic, commitment to excellence, and drive for success are paramount.  The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, an effective collaborator, and an articulate advocate of the company.   

 

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

Business Development (BD) Coordination:

  • Coordinate with BD resources in Austin, Houston and Dallas to ensure full coverage and support for all of Trinity’s Texas offices (Dallas, Houston, Austin, and Corpus Christi).
  • Develop comprehensive Business Development plans for the Oil and Gas Business Line Manager and the Austin Office.
  • State-wide marketing of events in Texas through a monthly electronic newsletter and other means.
  • National marketing of events through a quarterly Oil & Gas industry electronic newsletter and other means.
  • Coordination of content and design of newsletters.
  • Coordinate with staff to ensure the execution of BD plans and tasks.
  • Ensure accurate information in Trinity’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, and generate reports as needed.
  • Monitor regulatory developments, acting as a liaison to both external customers (clients and prospects) and internal customers (consulting staff).

Event Coordination:

  • Webinar and seminar support for courses.
  • Trade Show attendance and event coordination.
  • Event coordination for social/marketing events offered.

Sales Meetings, SOQ and Proposal Generation:

  • Prospect for potential new clients ‐ investigate available resources, both internal alternative databases. Communicate Trinity's capabilities and qualifications to perform work, develop relationships with key personnel from prospective firms, and assist consulting staff in matching prospect needs with Trinity's capabilities.
  • Work with personnel to respond to Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and generate proposals.
  • Through follow up calls from courses and marketing events, schedule opportunities for Texas personnel to have in-person meetings with prospective clients. Attend meetings whenever possible.
  • Work with Texas personnel to develop client-specific Statement of Qualifications (SOQs) in advance of new-client sales meetings.

Social Media Engagement:

 

  • Work with local personnel to bolster and use social media channels (e.g., Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) to promote Trinity events. Work with national Marketing group to promote efforts.

 

 Environmental Consulting Support:

  • At times, the candidate may need to provide assistance in support of our environmental consulting services. Depending on the skills and interest level of the candidate, this can include:
  • Emission calculations using Excel
  • Regulatory research
  • Regulatory review of Federal Register notices
  • Other tasks as assigned

 Travel:

  • Travel will be required as part of this position, however it will generally be at the discretion of the candidate to schedule.
  • Occasionally, sales meetings or course/event support could require travel on short notice.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities, however the ideal candidate will lead by example in a group of approximately two dozen business development team members nation-wide.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must. Candidate must be a motivated self-starter, and willing to engage both senior level and entry level personnel on business development initiatives. Strong PC skills will be required.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

College degree in related field.

3+ years experience in a business development position at a technical firm with demonstrated track record in growing revenue; or

7 years of relevant experience.

Must have computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheet skills, and thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office software package.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals a plus.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
