Senior Occupational Hygienist - UK

SafeBridge Consultants, Inc., a unique resource for high level safety, health and environmental support to pharmaceutical, chemical and biotechnology industries, has an opening for a Senior Occupational Hygienist for its European operations.



SafeBridge is seeking an experienced occupational hygienist who will be working with a senior team of recognized experts in toxicology, risk assessment, safety, occupational hygiene, environmental science and analytical chemistry.   Responsibilities include for both technical services and managing client accounts. The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills and is able to efficiently schedule work on multiple projects while balancing changing priorities and deadlines. 


Holds BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene (or equivalent) as a minimum.  More experienced candidates may hold the BOHS Diploma of Professional Competence in Occupational Hygiene (or equivalent). 


Undergraduate or postgraduate degree (or both).  Preferably in a science or engineering discipline.

Work experience

Experience working in the pharmaceutical, chemical or biotechnology industries is preferred, as is previous experience of working in a consultancy role.

  • Ability to work independently and also as part of a team to meet health objectives;
  • IT skills and technical for using specialist equipment; and
  • Ability to deliver clear and concise written work on technical subjects.


  • Directing and performing field studies, data gathering and sampling activities at sites including airborne chemical monitoring;
  • Conducting qualitative exposure assessments at Client sites;
  • Serving as project manager interfacing directly with clients to understand client needs and develop proposals, scope, costs, schedule and budgets;
  • Conducting design reviews for pharma/biopharm facilities;
  • Preparing, directing and reviewing technical reports, proposals and cost estimates;
  • Responding promptly and effectively to enquires from new and existing clients;
  • Responsible for quality control review of proposals and reports written by others; and
  • Developing and presenting technical training programs.

The candidate will be expected to develop their knowledge, qualifications, skills and responsibilities to include:

  • Becoming familiar with the full range of company services and developing ability to provide relevant explanations to clients;
  • Attaining a higher level occupational hygiene certification;
  • Supervising and developing junior staff;

Developing costed proposals on a range of services;

  • Working with USA colleagues to effectively support clients;
  • Contributing to the efficient running, success and profitability of the organisation; and
  • Conducting certification audits.
