Overview of Environmental Regulations

This 60-90 minute module provides an overview of major U.S. environmental laws, the role of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the interplay between state and federal regulations, and key requirements of environmental regulations affecting industrial facilities. The user can examine each topic sequentially or select the topic of immediate concern. Each module covers applicability and key regulatory requirements. Knowledge checks are provided throughout the course to ensure mastery of important concepts. This training module provides a comprehensive overview for environmental professionals who are new to the field or specific media responsibilities, or who just need a refresher, as well as operations, legal, or administrative personnel who need general familiarity with the environmental requirements that may impact a facility.

Overview of Air Quality Regulations

This 60-90 minute module provides an overview of Clean Air Act programs and requirements. It covers the air pollutants addressed by CAA programs, how EPA defines clean air, how states implement CAA provisions, air permitting programs for industrial sources, and standards related to new sources and emitters of air toxics. It also describes EPA’s Risk Management Program, requirements related to ozone-depleting substances and pollutants that contribute to the formation of acid rain, and most recently, requirements around greenhouse gas emissions. This module is a go-to resource for environmental professionals new to air quality responsibilities, operations personnel who need general familiarity with air quality requirements, and anyone who needs a refresher on the complex air programs.
