Environmental Solutions for Your Industry's Unique Needs

BC Hydro Keeps Dam Construction Project Flowing with our Water Quality Monitoring Solution

BC Hydro, a provincial Crown corporation owned by the government and people of British Columbia, Canada, began construction of a new clean energy project in 2015. The goal of the project was to construct a 3,609-foot (1,100-metre) wide by 197-foot (60-metre) tall earth fill hydroelectric dam across the Peace River, in keeping with several environmental compliance requirements and permit restrictions involving water quality, acute toxicity, suspended sediments, water temperature, and fish habitat. BC Hydro hired our team to advise on and help manage key environmental risks through environmental compliance monitoring at Site C beginning in 2016.

The Environmental Effects Monitoring (EEM) Cycle

Producing a quality EEM report requires robust data collection and analysis, integration of site and field data, and interpretation based on a comprehensive evaluation of overall conditions. Our scientists go above and beyond the minimum reporting requirements, producing detailed interpretive reports that have resulted in favourable feedback from clients and regulators. We've been conducting EEM studies for clients for over twenty years. With an understanding of regulations in Canada, a commitment to collect robust data, attention to detail, and a thorough process of data evaluation and interpretive reporting, clients can trust that our EEM studies will meet and exceed the requirements of the MDMER, while being conducted in a cost-effective manner.
