Justin Phillips, PE, is the Relief Systems Line of Service Manager with the Provenance team and works out of the Houston office. He has more than 11 years of experience providing process safety engineering services for industries including oil and gas, chemical manufacturing, and petroleum refineries. Justin's intimate knowledge of key regulations and expertise with complex pressure relieving systems allow him to develop strategic solutions for clients' relief system challenges. His specialties include Flare and Relief Systems, Process Design, and Technical Communication.

Justin is an active participant of the American Petroleum Institute (API) Subcommittee on Pressure Relieving Systems. From that subcommittee he is a voting member on the API 521 Task Force, API 520 Task Force, and API 2000 Task Force. He is a proponent and advocate for making the standards more useful for the common engineer.

He is passionate about advising clients on the necessity of ensuring their pressure relieving systems are adequate and evergreen. Most recently, he and his team have stayed busy supporting the relief system needs of chemical and specialty product manufacturers who have increased production to meet demand during pandemic response. Justin received his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University and is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. When he isn't busy being so serious, Justin enjoys spending time with his family, drinking craft beer, making coffee, and mowing the grass.
