June 5, 2012 - Trinity Consultants, an international environmental consulting firm that specializes in industrial air quality issues, recently opened an office in Malvern, PA to better serve the Greater Philadelphia area and eastern Pennsylvania. Wendy Merz, an environmental professional with more than two decades of experience, will oversee the new office. Ms. Merz directs Trinity’s operations throughout New Jersey, New York and eastern Pennsylvania. She has assisted dozens of facilities in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states with air quality regulatory challenges including state and federal air quality permitting, Notice of Violation response strategies and resolution, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventories and reporting. She is also particularly knowledgeable regarding air permitting for the gas industry in the Marcellus Shale Region and federal regulations and state permitting requirements for stationary internal combustion engines (generators).

Trinity serves a wide variety of industries including natural gas production, transmission, and distribution; chemical manufacturing, refining, cement and lime manufacturing, steel manufacturing, and food processing, and power generation. Recent client engagements in the area include:

  • Permitting new and existing emergency generators for use in economic and emergency demand response programs throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states. This work involved reviewing the applicable federal and state regulations, assisting clients in specifying technology requirements to ensure compliance, preparing the necessary permit applications and notifications, reviewing draft permit language, and overseeing compliance testing after installation.
  • Developing corporate-wide GHG emission inventories for clients in the transportation services and natural gas production, transmission and distribution industries for voluntary reporting as well as assisting clients in the steel, lime, cement, natural gas, electricity generation and general manufacturing industries with mandatory GHG reporting to US EPA.
  • Permitting significant modifications to air quality permits to allow for the use of alternative fuels and process materials.

She holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Lehigh University and an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.
