See the latest EHS federal and state regulatory updates due to COVID-19


The Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) is accepting applications for funding up to $35 million in zero-emission projects from the Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust fund. Applicants are encouraged to attend a pre-application webinar on August 6, 2020, at 2:00 PM. Funding is dedicated to California-operated equipment and vehicles for the following types of projects:

  • Scrapping and replacing the following types of equipment with new zero-emission technologies:
    • Airport ground support
    • Port cargo handling
    • Forklifts
    • Marine vessel engines
  • Installing shore power at berths serving ocean-going vessels

Funding will be offered based on ranking potential reductions in nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions and will be prioritized for projects benefitting disadvantaged or low-income communities. BAAQMD will accept applications until August 31, 2020, at 1:00 PM.
