The California Air Pollution Control Officers Association (CAPCOA), in collaboration with the California Air Districts, has released an updated version of the California Emissions Estimator Model (CalEEMod). CalEEMod provides a uniform platform to quantify the criteria air pollutants and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from various development projects. CalEEMod quantifies direct emissions from construction and operation activities, as well as indirect GHG emissions from energy use, solid waste disposal, and water use. The model additionally identifies mitigation measures to reduce criteria pollutant and GHG emissions. CalEEMod is used where an air quality analysis is necessary or desirable, such as during pre-project planning or preparing California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) or National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents.
CAPCOA contracted with BREEZE Software, a division of Trinity Consultants, to provide the latest CalEEMod update (version 2016.3.2) to further improve the user interface, improve model functioning, and rely on the latest emissions datasets.
