The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) held a public workshop on August 17, 2016 to discuss Proposed Amended Rule (PAR) 1302 - Definitions and PAR 1325 - Federal PM2.5 New Source Review Program.  The rule updates are in response to the reclassification of the South Coast Air Basin from a moderate to serious nonattainment area for the 2006 PM2.5 24-hour National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS).  The proposed amendments include lowering the major source threshold from 100 to 70 tons per year of direct PM2.5 and PM2.5 precursors.  Minor additional revisions are also proposed to improve rule clarity and uniformity.  The amendments are anticipated to become effective August 14, 2017.
