The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) held a working group meeting on May 10th, 2017 to discuss Proposed Amended Rule 1168 – Adhesive and Sealant Applications. The rule reduces volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions from adhesive and sealant application activities as part of the 2012 Air Quality Management Plan (AQMP) implementation.

The Proposed Amended Rule 1168 will clarify that the rule's purpose is to reduce both VOC and toxic air contaminants (TAC). Proposed new requirements to the rule include container labeling and product storage limitations. The proposed amended rule will also include reporting requirements for the sale of certain applicable products. The amended rule is currently scheduled for a public hearing in July 2017.
