The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) is proposing a new source-specific standard to regulate Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) emissions from commercial food ovens. The proposed rule is Rule 1153.1 – Emissions of Oxides of Nitrogen from Commercial Food Ovens. Rule 1153.1 will relieve owners and operators of food ovens from having to comply with Rule 1147 – NOx Reductions from Miscellaneous Sources. The proposed rule will make it more technically feasible for owners and operators of commercial ovens to comply with source specific standards, and it will establish alternate compliance options and requirements for maintenance and recordkeeping.

A public workshop for discussion of this proposed rule will be held on July 11, 2014. Additional information on the rule requirements can be found on the SCAQMD Public Notice.
