The IDNR is meeting with technical experts for a second time on August 21 to discuss potential changes to Iowa's water quality standards for copper. The new standards would be developed using a new Biotic Ligand Model (BLM), consistent with EPA's 2007 copper standards for aquatic life freshwater quality criteria. Before using the new BLM, the IDNR must modify the current state rules which requires hosting public meetings and receiving feedback from the public. For more information, click here.
