On June 20, 2019, LDEQ proposed amendments to the Water Quality regulations through two separate actions.
WQ101 proposes to amend LAC 33:IX.1123, Table 3. The proposed rule will classify subsegment 050603 (Bayou Chene from headwaters to Lacassine Bayou, including Bayou Grand Marais) as naturally dystrophic waters with a seasonal dissolved oxygen criteria of five milligrams per Liter (mg/L) during the months of December through February and three mg/L during the months of March through November.
WQ103 proposes to amend LAC 33:IX.1113.B.9.b.iii to revise the turbidity criteria for two subsegments in the Pearl River Basin. The turbidity criteria for subsegment 090205, Wilson Slough, and subsegment 090206, Bradley Slough, would be revised from 25 nephelometric turbidity units (NTU) to a turbidity criteria of 50 NTU.
Facilities that hold LPDES permits to discharge into subsegments 050603, 090205, and 090206 should be aware of these proposed changes.
A public hearing will be held for both actions on July 25, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. at LDEQ. Comments are due no later than August 1, 2019 at 4:30 p.m.
