In 2016, Volkswagen (VW) reached a settlement with regards to their violation of the Clean Air Act. As part of the settlement, $2.9 billion was paid to an environmental mitigation trust fund and distributed to states to be used for different mobile source pollution reduction projects. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) is hosting public meetings about the mitigation trust fund from the VW settlement.

The MDNR is hosting three upcoming meetings discussing the settlement and discussing how to distribute the almost $41 million. Comments and proposals will be taken into account during the development of a 10-year plan for using the funds to help reduce emissions from mobile sources. Meeting details below:

  • November 21, 2017 (1:00 - 3:00 PM) at the St. Louis County Department of Public Health in Berkley, MO
  • November 30, 2017 (9:30 - 11:30 AM) at The Library Center in Springfield, MO
