Ohio EPA, on April 8, 2009, finalized the consolidation of Ohio's Ambient Air Quality Standards (OAAQS) into a single location, namely Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) 3745-25-02. Previously, the OAAQS for a particular pollutant were included in the chapter of the rules that governed emission limits for the same pollutant. For example, the OAAQS for particulate were included in OAC 3745-17, while the OAAQS for sulfur dioxide were included in OAC 3745-18.

The OAAQS remain consistent with the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) other than the fact that Ohio EPA 1) did not update the 8-hour ozone standard from 0.08 parts per million (ppm) to 0.075 ppm and 2) did not update the lead standard from 1.5 micrograms per cubic meter (µg/m3) to 0.15 µg/m3. The rule changes become effective on April 18, 2009.
