The MOECC has amended Ontario Regulation 455/09 under the Toxics Reduction Act, 2009. The amendments came into effect on April 23, 2018.

The following updates have been made to the regulations:

  • The plan cycle has been extended by a year making the first compliance period six years. All plan renewals are now due on December 31, 2019.
  • The second cycle is cut back to four years making the second compliance deadline December 31, 2023.
  • Following the 2023 calendar year, all Toxic Reduction Plans TRA plans are due every five years.
  • Facilities are only required to include the previous year's TRA accounting records when a revised plan is created.

The MOECC has improved the alignment of the TRA program with the National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) with this amendment.
