On June 10, 2016, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) issued a draft version of the Air Curtain Incinerator (ACI) General Operating Permit (GOP) 518, which is due for renewal before June 1, 2017. The draft permit is subject to a 30-day public comment period which will end on July 13, 2016. A public hearing will be held at the TCEQ in Austin on July 7, 2016. The TCEQ expects the final version of the permit to be issued in early September, 2016.

In addition to the federally required renewal, the draft GOP includes the following changes:

  • Revised requirements tables reflecting changes in state and federal law;
  • Incorporation of Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) Subpart ZZZZ (Stationary Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines) requirements table;
  • Revisions to terms for consistency with other General Operating Permits; and
  • Updated language and typographical error corrections.

If you have any questions on how the proposed changes may affect your facility, please call your local Trinity office at (800) 229-6655.
