The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) promulgated streamlined regulations for lithographic printers that are effective July 1, 2019, and also developed a new online industry portal for the printing industry.
Previously, lithographic printers were required to meet two different Reasonably Available Control Technology (RACT) rules. Complying with one rule did not necessarily mean that the affected facility was in compliance with the second rule. With the streamlined regulations, WDNR has made it obvious on what regulations apply to an affected facility, clarified how compliance should be demonstrated, and streamlined testing requirements for printing facilities with low emissions. In addition, an affected facility will only be subject to one of the two RACT rules.
To further assist the printing industry, WDNR compiled the environmental compliance and sustainability resources specific to the printing industry into a new online industry portal.
