Using Life Cycle Analysis to Reduce Environmental Footprint

This 1-day course introduces attendees to key steps in conducting a life cycle analysis (LCA) and how to ensure relevant data are gathered and analyzed. It also addresses emerging protocols for determining product carbon footprints, developing environmental product declarations, establishing an environmentally preferred purchasing program, and introduces commercially available tools for conducting an LCA. Attendees are introduced to a typical LCA framework as outlined in the ISO 14040 series and case examples illustrate how LCAs are used for organizational sustainability initiatives. Attendees learn to:
