Train the Hazardous Waste Trainer

This 1-day course is designed for plant and corporate staff that are responsible for providing hazardous waste training to plant employees at facilities classified as large quantity generators (LQG) of hazardous waste. LQGs must have certain personnel successfully complete an annual review of the facility’s hazardous waste program per 40 CFR 262.17(a)(7)(i)(A). This annual training must include instruction which teaches facility personnel hazardous waste management procedures (including contingency plan implementation) relevant to the positions in which they are employed.

This course is beneficial for new and experienced staff alike; it provides not only an overview of the LQG requirements, but also discusses proposed changes to the requirements and recent enforcement activities. Throughout the course, the instructor utilizes their industry & consulting experience and solicits attendee discussion to highlight challenges and best practices to train employees at their facility. The course will review waste determinations, container management practices, satellite accumulation areas, accumulation areas, universal waste, used oil, manifests, contingency plans, and other hazardous waste information.

Course completion will enable attendees to:

  • Demonstrate staff have the required training to lead their facility’s annual hazardous waste training courses
  • Review their current compliance requirements
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest RCRA regulatory changes
  • Evaluate recent RCRA enforcement activities and potential applicability to your facility
